Meet the Artist: Dharma Barsotti

Sculptor, Painter, Designer

Dharma Barsotti has studied sculpture for many years starting in high school and culminating in a sculpture certificate from the Palla Studios in Pietra Santa, Italy.  He has studied Bronze Casting, Marble Carving, Wood Carving, and Welding.  Now, he is focusing on redwood and stone carving as well as event décor / prop design, custom painting, and sewing.

Dharma grew up in Oakland, California and currently splits his time between Yosemite and San Francisco.  He has had a studio at the Coal Shed Art Studios which became the Mare Island Art Studios for many years as well as a private studio in Greeley Hill, CA.  His work is mainly seen at private locations across the greater San Francisco Bay Area and the Motherlode.

Dharma started his art career at age 14, stapling felt triangles to a string to create pennant flags for a Motley Crew concert at the Oakland Coliseum for a Day on the Green in the mid 1980’s.  He went on to become assistant art director for Bill Graham Presents and then started his own company creating custom event props and environments; all the while, creating custom commissioned art pieces for private collectors.  The production art produced by Dharma has grown to become a large scale event decor business that includes art direction and custom fabrication at festivals such as Bottle Rock, Outside Lands, Firefly, Coachella Day One 22, The Bridge School Benefit, and many more.  The Fine Art wing of the company has created custom large scale carved sculptures for private homes around the greater northern California area as well as custom murals and interior décor.
