New at this year’s 49er Festival is the Taste of Tuolumne Food & Beverage Showcase. The Yosemite Chamber is partnering with Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce to bring festival-goers a stellar selection of authentic local cuisine. For just $1 a taste, you’ll savor some of the best food our county has to offer.
We all know and love the Iron Door S aloon for its historic significance, fun atmosphere, rockin’ live music, and karaoke. But when co-owner Chris Loh’s twin brother came to town earlier this year, “great food” soon joined the list of our favorite things about The Door.
Chef Steve Loh embarked on his culinary journey at the age of 14 through a youth program at a Japanese restaurant in Oakland, California, where he grew up. Since then, he has honed his skills at various locations, including Benihana, and eventually became the head chef at Mua in Oakland. He also traveled across the United States, cooking at different locations as a company chef, as well as cooking for the Michelin-recommended restaurant, Bardo, in Oakland, California.
Lucky for us, Chef Steve decided to bring his talents to Groveland, creating interesting and super-tasty dishes for the Iron Door Saloon & Grill. His weekend specials like marinated korean short ribs and ahi tuna ramen highlight his asian-influenced cooking style and totally satisfy our frequent cravings for asian cuisine. Chef Steve is currently developing new Fall menu items that will soon be unveiled, so watch for announcements.
In the meantime, Chef Steve has chosen his delicious Chilled Melon Soup as the perfect Taste of Tuolumne on a hot summer’s day. Don’t miss this chance to sample just one of Chef Steve’s unique and delicious creations at the 49er Festival on September 21.
