The 175th Anniversary Heritage Quilt, featuring Irene Clark’s 1970’s illustrations of Groveland and Big Oak Flat’s most historic buildings, is FINISHED and it is BEAUTIFUL. We cannot thank these talented women enough for creating this work of art for our community.

Thanks to the community spirit of the Pine Needlers Guild and three super-talented needlers Carol Willmon, Anita Millard, and Dee Small, the Heritage Quilt was finished in record time.

Heritage Quilt Goes on Tour

Now, Grade to Gate Foundation (beneficiaries of the Live Auction proceeds, in support of the ongoing Beautification of our gateway to Yosemite) is taking the Heritage Quilt on tour and collecting pre-Festival bids for this unique piece of our history.

Starting Monday, July 28, the Heritage Quilt will be on display at Mechanics Bank, followed by an appearance at the Groveland Community Resilience Center for the STCHS lecture on August 1. Other appearances will be announced in The Weekly and Yosemite Chamber social media posts leading up to the 49er Festival. QR codes will be prominently displayed along with the quilt so viewers can access the STCHS articles highlighting the historic buildings, businesses, and families featured in the Heritage Quilt and register pre-Festival bids for serious bidders who may not be present on September 20.

The 175th Anniversary Heritage Quilt is truly a priceless work of art that deserves to be displayed in a prominent and highly visible place of honor in our town. It is the hope of the Yosemite Chamber of Commerce, the Pine Needlers Guild, and the Grade to Gate Foundation that an individual or a local consortium will come together to purchase this piece of history for permanent loan and display in the Groveland Community Hall (once restored) or the Groveland Community Resilience Center where all can see and appreciate it.
