Groveland/Big Oak Flat heroes wear CSU neon vests

Updated: Nov 14

Halloween night was so much safer for trick or treaters this year thanks to the dedicated volunteers of the TCCSU (Tuolumne County Community Service Unit).

Stationed at the two crosswalks...Iron Door Saloon and the Serendipity parking lot...as well as two additional popular crossing areas (MotherLode Made and Premier Valley Bank), vehicles were cautioned to slow down and/or stop for candy-seekers as they maneuvered both sides of Main Street.

True to their mission: to work with the Sheriff's Office to help make Tuolumne County a safer and more enjoyable place to live, work, and visit, the CSU maintains volunteers for three activity areas. They include: Vehicle Maintenance Unit, Marine Enforcement, and Community Assistance Patrol (CAP).

While the increased need for services by the Sheriff’s Office requires increased personnel and added expenditure of public funds, the addition of personnel is not always an option. A partial answer to this problem is the utilization of the volunteer pool of talent and experience in the community.

Perfect examples are the six people who worked Groveland Main Street on Halloween night:

Jeff Bagge

Bruce Dudley

Nora Feddal

Barbara Lenorak

David Valponi

Brian Watson (PML Director)

A huge thank you to each of them for their time, commitment, and dedication to help make sure our kids enjoyed a very special and fun evening.
